Top 5 Benefits of Working with a Life Coach

In a previous article, I discussed the difference between Coaching and Therapy. We looked at how the two differ, and what some of the benefits are. In today’s article, I want to dive a little deeper into the benefits of Life Coaching specifically. As you know, I am a Life Coach, with a focus on Women’s Issues and Women’s Wellness. Essentially, I work with women to improve various aspects of their lives, by empowering them to be their absolute best selves. I firmly believe in Life Coaching and its ability to elicit change; because I’ve seen clients’ lives transform through coaching.

If you’re not familiar, Life Coaching is a form of personal development that focuses on gaining greater clarity to create concrete goals and actioning these goals to have favorable outcomes. People often seek a Life Coach if they are going through a period of transition, or are ready to make changes that will advance their life. Below are some benefits of working with a Life Coach.

Life Coaching: What are the Benefits?

1. Clarity and Direction

One of the main reasons people reach out to obtain my life coaching services, is the desire to achieve greater clarity and direction in their lives. Given the various roles women play, there is often a period of questioning oneself about the direction their lives may be taking, or feeling stuck where they currently are.

I have clients come to me stating, “I don’t feel as if I am living my best life” So many women feel stuck or confused about the next steps that they would like to take. One of the very first questions I ask my clients is: “What is it you want?”. As simple as this question is, this stumps most people. Most of the time the response is either a very vague description of an experience, or simply an “I don’t know”. Even when I remove the barriers of time and money, people still struggle with the answer. It can be very hard to pinpoint what you want and find direction when there are many options. This is where Coaching can be quite powerful.

A coach can help you gain clarity around your goals, values, and purpose, and help guide you toward making decisions that are aligned with these aspects of your life. By developing this clarity, you will better be able to move forward in your life, and not feel as if you are stuck or spinning your wheels.

2. Accountability and Motivation

Let’s face it, change can be hard. To embark on something new is not always an easy task. This is why, so many goals never get to fruition. People often quit too prematurely. The many bumps along the way, or the commitment to keep things going, can be very hard to do. Especially when you are going at it alone.

There will be times when you will feel discouraged or unmotivated and may just want to give up. This is why Life Coaches are great during the change process. They can hold you accountable for taking action towards your goals, and provide motivation to help keep you on track. We are also here to help problem solve the obstacles and challenges that may arise along the way. And I can not understate this, there will most likely be challenges along the way. Having a Life Coach is like having your own cheerleading and advisory squad. Knowing that someone is there who is just as invested in your success, is invaluable during the change process.

3. Improved Self-Awareness

We don’t know, what we don’t know. We may have an understanding of ourselves but may lack insight into what keeps us from being able to move forward. If we were always aware of what holds us back, we wouldn’t have a problem. Working with a Life Coach is like raising a mirror up to yourself. You’re not only seeing yourself through your eyes, but you’re seeing yourself through the eyes of someone else. Receiving feedback on those thoughts, feelings, or behaviors which get in your way, can be quite helpful.

Working with a coach can really help you gain these insights, in a timely way. Developing a deeper relationship and understanding of self can help you make positive changes in your life, develop healthier habits, and improve your relationships.

4. Increased Confidence and Resilience

Lack of confidence is one of the biggest barriers to making changes and going after goals. As referenced in my About page, our deepest fear isn’t always about not being good enough, sometimes it’s the fear of being too much, and this is where self-doubt and lack of confidence come into play. Imposter syndrome, low self-esteem, and worth are all things that prevent many people from taking the next step. However, for the most part, a lot of these fears we carry about ourselves are really just in our heads. Sometimes we need someone to help us see this, so we can build our confidence and develop the resilience to stay on course. Having a Life Coach can be valuable in helping you do this. A life coach can help you navigate difficult situations and overcome inevitable setbacks, so you can develop the confidence to keep working at your goals.

5. Efficiency

Sometimes when we are embarking on something new, we have an idea of what we think we should be doing, however, we could be approaching things in an inefficient way. Working with a Life Coach can help you identify the ways you can go about things efficiently. A Coach can help you prioritize your time and energy, and create a more balanced approach to your goals. This can lead to greater fulfillment and happiness overall, as well, help you achieve your goal in a timely fashion.
